WWWとは

WWWとはWorld Wide Web（ワールドワイドウェブ）を略した名称です。

Webとは蜘蛛の巣という意味で、世界中に幅広く広がった網ということになります。

wwwはどういう意味

ではURLについているwwwはどういう意味なのでしょうか

インターネットの世界にはホームページ以外にもメールやファイル転送など様々なサービスがあります。

その中でホームページかどうか判別しやすいように「www」をつけることが一般的だったようです。

つまり、URLに「www」があることによって何かが変わることはありません。

wwwありとなしでどちらかに統一しておく必要はある

wwwがついていると、しっかりとした印象はあるかもしれないですね。

ただ、大企業などでは残っているものの、最近では「www」をつけているサイトは少なくなってきています。

また、SEOで差が出るなどの違いはないと思われます。

今回はwww付きのドメインをwwwなしのドメインへ301リダイレクトする設定方法を説明していきます。

具体的な設定方法

レンタルサーバーの場合

以下はドメインをtest.netとしています。

1. 「.htaccess」というファイルを作成します。
不可視ファイル（.が先頭に付くファイル）を見えるようにOSの設定はしておいてください。

2. 以下のように記載してください。

Options +FollowSymLinks
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} ^www\.test\.net$
RewriteRule ^(.*)$ http://test.net/$1 [R=301,L]

3. FTPでサーバーにアクセスをして、トップディレクトに作成したファイルをアップロードします。

4. 「.htaccess」の権限を「604」に設定してください。

これでURLの統一がされます。

VPSやクラウドサーバーの場合

レンタルサーバーでは.htaccessファイルを作成しましたが、サーバーの詳細設定ができるVPSなどでは、

httpd.confを編集することでリダイレクト設定が可能になります。

1. httpd.confを編集します。

vi httpd.conf

2. 以下のように編集します。

NameVirtualHost *:80
<VirtualHost *:80>

DocumentRoot /var/www/html/test
ServerName test.net

ServerAlias test.net

<Directory "/var/www/html/test">

AllowOverride All

Options -Indexes FollowSymLinks
